2011 Value-Added Achievement Awards

In a May 9, 2011 ceremony held at the State Capitol, Education Consumers Foundation President J. E. Stone presented awards of $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000 to Tennessee's highest performing elementary and middle school principals. (You can see rankings of every elementary school here, and of every middle school here.) Recipients were selected on the basis of their school's most recent 3-year average achievement gains in math and reading/language arts. Only those principals with 5 or more years of service were considered.

The Foundation was honored to see participation from numerous state leaders, including Governor Bill Haslam; Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey; Speaker of the House Beth Harwell; Senator Dolores Gresham, chair of the Senate Education Committee; and Representative Richard Montgomery, chair of the House Education Committee.
